I don’t understand why they are in court again. Can you just go fro country to country doing the same court case? Can anyone explain please.

He is suing her for defamation, $50million's worth, for her 2018 piece about her experiences as a survivor of sexual assault and domestic abuse. She didn't name him but it came after she publicly accused him in 2016 and, I will put this in quotes as it appears across much of the media, she appeared in court with "an apparently battered face" and got a temporary restraining order

Again, I believe them both. Always have. They are both victim and abuser, by their own words. So all of this is just feels like rich and famous people doing rich and famous people things. Which is why his testimony includes all his soul searching about his addictions etc. It looks like Hollywood Therapy in action. And if it isn't then he needs better freinds and counsellors!

In balance, Heard has counterclaimed for things Depp's lawyer said. No idea how that works but it will hit a coutrtroom near a broadcasting unit soon!

In the uk he sued the newspaper. In the USA he’s suing Amber. That’s the difference.

I think the general idea was that he would win in the UK, the defamation laws being what they are, which would then strengthen his case in the US. But the first part didn’t quite work out.

At least one of them's a narc I'm sure. My money's on Amber but I might be wrong (or they both might be).

I’m another that believes they have abused each other during their relationship. There’s a bit of short sightedness regarding AH and her (alleged) guilt. She has apparently got form for being abusive in another previous relationship, so therefore according to many, she must be guilty now (which is fair assuming that is true- abusers do often follow a similar pattern of behaviour with each relationship). But. It doesn’t mean she automatically can’t also be a victim of abuse and that JD is totally innocent and the injured party in all of it. Like I said, I think they’re both abusers. Best thing they did was split up and it’s a shame they’re still battling it out in court instead of moving on with their own lives.

They can't 'move on' though. JD has to try and prove that he isn't a wife beater as the allegations against him have wrecked his career.
I agree they are both to blame but I believe JD is far more of a victim than AH ever was.
The court hearing will theoretically draw a line under it all one way or another. I suspect it will end in a six of one/ half a dozen of the other style agreement and finally a line will be drawn as the detail is finally out there.

I suspect all JD wants is for the detail of AH's abuse to be out there finally. After than people can draw their own conclusion. He is admitting to a host of failings. I suspect AH cannot and never will.

But he could just move on? He was already becoming uncastable. He didn't have to sue everyone. And he's still sitting on millions of assets, albeit not liquid (no pun intended he's clearly very ill about the liver).

I think it's safe to assume they both have traits.

I'm choosing not to watch because this really isn't good for either of them. They'd be better paying counsellors all that money.

It seems like a toxic relationship where they should have seperated long before they did. Amber Heard is coming across as having some kind if mental health issue, she was gaslighting and trying to control him. He admittedly has addiction issues and his text messages showed a really dark side of him. I do think she was in the wrong to write the article though, she knew what it would do to his reputation and career and she has been just as abusive if not more so.

If he wants to get his name back and resume his career, he needs to clear his name. So no, he cannot move on unless he is willing to retire and forever be branded a wife beater.
