How to cancel Sky

My DM has been with Sky for ages. I convinced her to switch as the call costs were very high and she has signed up to EE with calls included. She has cancelled the DD to Sky. Is that right- is she not meant to tell them she is cancelling? I asked and she said there is no number or email and you can't contact them at all. Surely there is an easy way to tell them you are leaving. What happens if you don't?

She needs to ring them. And hold for a lifetime.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 19/04/2022 06:45

They definitely have a phone number, I called it recently to cancel. She may be under contract so obliged to pay for a certain time period.

If course she needs to contact them as she will still have a contract with them. Is it just for calls or for tv/broadband too?

This is the number

If she's signed up for a new broadband contract, chances are the new provider will inform Sky. We just did the same and didn't have to contact them ourselves - the new provider informs them they are taking over the line. Sky should then send her a 'We hear you're leaving us' communication.

www.sky.com/cancel

There is normally a notice period

EE said you don't want to tell them too soon you are leaving, which confused me. I think she thinks oh good they won't get a penny more and good riddance, without realising it could get complicated. I don't know, I have always used a switch site. I will try and get her to call that number, thanks.

It is calls and broadband, out of contract.

Not for calls and broadband, the new provider will do that

JollyAndBright · 19/04/2022 06:56

You need to give a minimum of 14 days notice,
If you just cancel the DD they will just send a paper bill and eventually add on extra charges.

You can live chat with them on the website here
Talk to them via text,
Facebook messenger
Call 03300 413 000

Email [email protected]
Or write to Sky Subscriber Services Ltd, PO Box 43, Livingston, EH54 7DD

With your name, address and account number.

Yes that's what happened for me. It was very easy. 🌹

The new supplier should notify sky, unless she's moved to Virgin (something to do with the cables they can't do a straight switchover). This is what Sky themselves told me when I was going to leave them.
