Dishwasher Eco setting

Is anyone else Eco setting rubbish?

I've switched to it for obvious reasons but it doesn't clean everything properly.

Grainy bits left on everything like it hasn't rinsed properly and some things left greasy and stained orange.

Am I doing something wrong or is it generally not as good?

Bosch Eco setting 3.15 hours. Always keep the salt topped up.

My bosch eco takes four and a half hours. I use it once or twice a month as it takes so long. I'm not awake or in the house enough to make use of it. It seems to wash ok.
It's a crap dishwasher though as it doesn't bleep when it's finished.

Bosch eco setting here. Recently switched to it and no problems except it takes three and a half hours instead of two and a half.

I can’t find the table that tells me how much energy it saves compared to normal though but I’ll trust it!

Interesting reading through the posts on here as I’ve not long started to use the eco cycle on my hotpoint dishwasher. So far so good, but yes it takes about 3.5hrs. Stuff is cleaned and dried nicely, and no bad smells. I time it to start the wash cycle at night time when I have a super cheap 4hrs of 7.5p/kWh (I’ve got an EV electricity tariff).

@WhatHaveIFound

I have a Bosch dishwasher and always use it on the Eco setting. It works perfectly well and I've never had any problems with dishes not being rinsed properly. Tend to use Finish tablets with it.
Bosch here as well - 3.5 hour eco setting, put on overnight every single day. I use fairy platinum pods and everything comes out sparkling. Considering changing to Aldi tablets - not sure if that will reduce the effectiveness though.

@DinosApple

We have an eco wash and a 40 minute cycle. The eco wash works well but takes aaages, the 40 minute one is fine for light work though.

Nowhere in the manual does it say which cycle uses least electricity - my money would be on the quick cycle tbh.

I can't seem to get hold of dishwasher salt at the moment either...

Just bought a huge bag of dishwasher salt from Screwfix for just under £10 hth

Yep, Bosch here too and no issues. We always use it.

AmberGer · 18/04/2022 22:14

I use aldi magnum tablets in my Siemens dishwasher on eco, no issues.

Never used anything else, we put it on after evening meal and don't care how long it takes.

Just like washing clothes, fast wash doesn't necessarily use less energy, think about taking the time to soak things versus trying to wash them in a hurry.
