WWYD? Work hours

HappyGoDucky · 18/04/2022 17:40

Would you choose option 1 or option 2-

Option 1
Wednesday 10.00 - 7.30 (across 2 locations on same day)
Thursday 10- 7.30 (1 location)
Friday 11-2 (across 2 locations on same day)
Sat 11- 4 (1 location)

Or

Option 2

Wednesday- 10am - 7.30pm
Thursday- 10am- 7.30pm
Sat- 8am- 4pm

Travel and breaks are within those times. 30 mins travel between the two locations. I'm paid hourly, option 2 is 30 mins more per week than option 1. I've historically always worked Saturdays.

Wwyd? TIA

Option 2 as you are working less days

HappyGoDucky · 18/04/2022 17:42

Woops, option 2 should say Wednesdays at both locations, thursday and Saturday 1 location.

Option 2. The 3hrs on the Fri is annoyingly across the middle of your day so I’d rather just the 3 longer days.

LIZS · 18/04/2022 17:42
  1. Are you paid travel time?
AntarcticTern · 18/04/2022 17:43

How important is a Saturday lie in for you? Do you like to go out on Friday nights?

SamMil · 18/04/2022 17:43

Option 2. I think less days is better even if longer days.

ScarlettSing · 18/04/2022 17:44

2

Tee20x · 18/04/2022 17:45

Option 2 100% you'll be grateful for the extra day off rather than having 2 short days. That will be inconvenient.

HappyGoDucky · 18/04/2022 17:57

@LIZS

2. Are you paid travel time?
Unfortunately not.

Option 1 are my current hours. I'm used to Saturday lie ins but I can get those on other days. I tend to go out Saturday evenings these days. My DC are more or less off my hands now.

Option 2, no question. Fewer days is better than shorter days.

Ilikewinter · 18/04/2022 18:02

Option 2, the Friday hours are smack in the middle of the day

Unsureaboutit9 · 18/04/2022 18:02

2, less days and travel

HappyGoDucky · 18/04/2022 18:04

Option 2 looks to be winning at the moment. The only down side I can think of is that the long days are hard going- I will get 1/2 hour break midway through the day but the job in its nature has 100% concentration fir its entirety, no quick coffee breaks, no chats whatsoever, no toilet breaks, it's go go go every second.

Option 2 for me also

RoseMartha · 18/04/2022 18:08

Option 2

HappyGoDucky · 19/04/2022 17:31

Thanks all. I have opted for 2. Option 1 are my current hours. I will have more time to myself and less rushing between jobs, will be financially better off too. I had a slight wobble over the decision (even though it looks a no brainer) as I've only just recovered my hours to resemble something that works after the pandemic.
