Bedtime routine (for me!)

Hi all I want to get into a better bedtime routine for myself. I've fallen into the trap as alot of parents do I think of staying up late to have some sort of an evening and it's not good tbh.

My youngest has just started sleeping through so all children are either asleep or in their rooms (teens) by 9.30 at the latest so I'm off the clock then so to speak.

I want to get a bath, read and then be asleep by 10.30-11 really but it's such a short time once the children are asleep.

DH is usually working (from home) in the evening.

I always end up faffing on the tablet until after midnight. I find it really hard to mentally switch off. I think because I was so used to listening our for toddlers over the years in the evening I couldn't really settle, and now I'm technically able to, I can't 😂

How do you break the cycle?

I'm awake from just before 6 as that's when DH gets up and I get up around 6.30 so really need to be asleep by 11.

Do I just need to be more strict with myself 🤔

Ps I should have said, I'm deaf so audible etc to switch off is no good as it takes so much energy to listen! I only hear every other word or so. I rely on subtitles on TV/ YouTube etc

I'd suggest going into the bath as soon as the kids are settled. Then get into your bed to read with your tablet banished from the bedroom.

Does your husband help with the kids bedtime at all? Can you now take it in turns so you can have some TV time before your bath.

I’d say number one has to be leave the tablet alone and out of your room. Bath at 9.30, straight to bed and read a book or magazine rather than using a screen.
