I want to get my DS a lovely soft toy for his birthday but I'm really stuck as to what to get him. Any suggestions? He loves animals so no cuddly amoebas or croissants please.

How old is he? Jelly cat toys are usually nice and cuddly

Steiff have some lovely classic soft toys, depending on your budget.

Do you have a local zoo that sells them maybe?

We had everything over the years:

  • snow leopards
  • lions
  • cheetahs
  • andean bears
  • ring tailed lemurs
  • red ruffed lemurs
  • red squirrel
  • wolf
  • husky
  • fruit bat
  • many rabbits
  • many dogs
  • elephants
  • a gigantic camel
....

He'll be 10. Very grown up but you're never too grown up for a lovely cuddly toy Bear

Jellycat are brilliant and they do a good range of animals. The rabbits are very popular, my DC has one and I see a lot of them about.
They don't wash great though it spoils the fur so if you want something machine washable maybe not best option.

Definitely jellycat. Lots of choice and great quality

We have a jellycat prawn, and his curvy body is extremist cuddly. yes I know that sounds insane

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 17/04/2022 19:30

Jellycat toys are lovely and soft and cuddly.

I have never understood the popularity of Steiff toys. That button in the ear would irritate me no end - I’m sure all the children I know would demand for it to be removed PDQ! GDcs even want fabric labels cut off asap.

A similar U.K. brand is Merrythought - we’ve had some much-loved Merrythought teddies, and no pesky buttons in their ears!

Ds has a collection of the Keel ones like this Amazon Keel soft toy

They're in his cupboard all peeking out. I suggested now he was 14yo he might want to get rid of a few and actually use the cupboard for clothes and he was horrified.

We have a fantastic shop in town and when Keel do a new type of dog they let me know and I get it for ds for Christmas.
They come in three different sizes, are very cuddly and are all specific types of dogs.
His first one was a Jack Russell black and white one, known to him as "Pirate Doggy" because one of the black patches was over an eye. He now has one in each size.

IKEA. Very soft and cuddly but reasonably priced. The big dogs are lovely.
