Childrens chapter books with strong female leads

Hi, I'm looking for some recommendations for audiobooks with strong girls in.
My 5 and 6 year old love to listen to an audiobook before bed. They're tired of winnie the pooh, beatrix potter and the railway children.
I'd like a nice long list of audiobooks to work through.

I'm also happy for historical books about (female) women!

A Wrinkle in Time

Ramona series by Beverly Cleary

Eva Ibbotson - The Dragonfly Pool and Journey to the River Sea are both great. Haven't read the others yet but I expect they'll also be good.

Star of Kazan is good too, but I think they're all a bit too advanced for 5-6 yos. Readers need to understand the historical context as well as the plot.

Traditional girls' school stories are good for strong female characters, as they largely feature girls solving their own problems, and the authority figures are all women. But again 5-6 is a bit young to be tackling books about girls in their teens.
