If you have big boobs, where are you buying nice/dressy tops?

I’m a size 16, and struggling to shift some weight I’ve gained over the last couple of years. I’ve got a couple of nights coming up where I’d like something nice to wear. Something to go with some jeans. As I package up another asos return as either nothing fits around the bust or it makes me look even bigger than I already am, I wonder if anyone has any go-to shops where I can find some brilliant, dressy and classy tops?

I’m finding it’s the shape rather than the brand than makes the difference.
Boden often fits me quite well.

I am a size 18 and buy most stuff from Monsoon as i generally find their styles flattering and you can get some lovely dressy stuff from there :)

Hopping on the bandwagon here, do you find your tops ride up at the throat? This is my problem. I'm sure my boobs make the fabric ride up. I'm forever tugging my tops down from strangling my neck. (GG cup)

If in doubt, size up. I like a silky shirt tucked in.

Asos something like this with a cami top underneath?

springtimeishereagain · 16/04/2022 17:54

I find that Wallis and Phase Eight tops fit me well.

WouldBeGood · 16/04/2022 18:07

Or this from River Island. Comes in other colours too

Oh yes! Esp bouses with buttons at the front.
Snufflebabe05 · 16/04/2022 20:50

Anything with any kind of ‘gathering’ at the front just doesn’t work. I seem to carry my weight around my lower waist (imagine the bit under the button line of a pain of jeans) and tops like that seem to draw attention to the bit I want to cover and disguise!

Would you try a dress, @Snufflebabe05?

WouldBeGood · 16/04/2022 21:00

I know the bit you mean, and when I’m conscious of it o find dresses better

WouldBeGood · 16/04/2022 21:08

Or do a black cami top and a kimono style thing

woodhill · 16/04/2022 21:12

Fashion at the moment doesn't help as the necklines are high and shape so are boxy

SRK16 · 16/04/2022 21:14

I have the same issue. I find tops where you have to wear a cami underneath end up looking quite frumpy too. It’s hard at the moment as style wise, tucked in tops seem to be what’s in fashion.. but like you I’m self conscious of my lower tummy!
What about wear a midi skirt with a scoop neck top? Even just a plain top looks a bit smarter with a skirt.

Absolutely. I have a long body and no one wants to see my back fat on display. Having a body top end at my waist isn't a good look for me and makes me look double the size.
notsureaboutTAAT · 16/04/2022 21:52

I like longline tops, sometimes I search through tunics but they often have gathering, so can be hit or miss.

I'm a size 14/16 with a large chest and I hate my stomach. I've recently started buying clothes from Yours. The things I have bought so far fit really well across my chest.

woodhill · 16/04/2022 22:30

Yes - notsureaboutTAAT - I totally understand

I'm long waisted so I prefer things longer in the boy and dress waists come up high plus so much stuff tends to shrink
