Thyroid storm

Yesterday my heart was racing so much harder than it had previously I've been feeling pretty rotten for a week or so. I was admitted direct to resus with a hr of 190

Bloods and treatments later and I've been diagnosed with a thyroid storm and maybe Graves' disease.

I feel so much better today, but my symptoms were;

Losing a stone in 3 weeks
Having nausea and vomiting
Heart rate pounding
Feeling really hot
Red hands
Anxiety
Tremors
Shaky legs
And repeated miscarriages

Also my 'double chin' is a massive goiter. Brilliant!

Now in my naivety I thought only thin people got hyperthyroidism nope, anyone can get it. Don't be tit lie me and if you feel something is off keep going.

Don't do what I do and just accept the 'your just fat' argument from the gp

Glad you’ve been diagnosed and are getting treatment, I became hyperthyroid a few years ago and didn’t have a thyroid storm but when I saw the consultant he said my blood results were off the chart, regularly had a high hr , felt exhausted but couldn’t sleep, didn’t lose weight initially but then couldn’t put it on, had a tremor in my hands , SOB, restless legs, night sweats it was awful!

My symptoms are mostly under control now, with regular blood tests and carbimazole.
