Kindle with ads

It's a long time since I last had a Kindle and am thinking of getting another (old one broke). Now I see they are all "with ads" or "without ads" and with ads is cheaper. What form do the ads take? Is it like Spotify basic where you're forced to stop reading (listening on Spotify) to view ads?

The ads only appear as a lockscreen/screensaver! I barely notice them and it saved me a little bit of money!

The ads won't affect your reading experience at all. They will alert you to new books and sometimes discounts.

As the others said, they just come up on your lock screen, so don't get in the way of reading at all.

Oh good. What about memory size? I wouldn't use it for audiobooks, just reading. Is 8GB enough or do you need 32GB?

No, it is just one page displayed on the sleep page when you open it, which you can simply swipe away. (I am talking about Paperwhite and basic Kindle). Doesn't take up any of your time,so well worth the saving. Occasionally they may feature a book that looks interesting, then if you want you can click through to the Kindle store and get more information.

I would really struggle to remember the ad on the homescreen 1 minute after unlocking the screen - i don't register them.

John Lewis and Amazon have a lot of Kindle/Fire models on promotion (presumably just for a few days).
