First gig with DC

We are taking DC (12 and 9) to their first gig tomorrow night. We're on the balcony where it's unreserved seating.

The band are due to come on around 9.15pm.

For those of you who have done this before, how have you managed it? I guess we'll need to get there early to find seats together, but I'm worried that if we get there too early then DC2 will be bored/fidgety/have had enough by the time the main act comes on. So should one of us go in and claim seats, with the others joining later? Or do we take tech to keep the smallest one occupied?

Any hints/tips much appreciated!

What sized gig? If it's Bastille, if say the issue is queuing. You need to be in the queue early to have a hope of getting decent seating ime and saying "oh sorry I'm saving these for people who didn't want to come early" won't go down well. So yeah, tech. Fully charge up phones etc. Is there a support act on first?

ABlindAssassin · 14/04/2022 11:19

Yes it's Bastille and there are three (!) support acts. Sounds like tech is the way to go. I'm not overly bothered about getting good seats, as long as we are together. Hopefully the novelty will keep DC2 entertained. He's the main reason we're going!

They'll love the support acts though. I took DD to see Dodi last year which was her first gig and we ended up dancing around to the support acts.

I hope so! I'm really looking forward to it. DC2 has loved Bastille since he was tiny 😊

Haha me too, but standing down the bottom. I'm on my own though so happy to be nearer the back so will be aiming for joining the queue about 6.30. Three support acts, wow. Hadn't realised or that they'd be actually in so late.

And yy to the support acts, we saw Walk The Moon support Fun and I brought their album whilst they were still on stage!

We had to go on the balcony as the DC are under 14. I've never been seated at a concert before, it's making me feel old!!
I asked on their Facebook group about timings and someone said it was 9pm ish at the gig they'd been to. So I assumed it would be similar timings.

Hope you have a great night!

Yes, about 9-915 will be about right but people will find seats from about 730 onwards. We’ve never not been able to find seats together though. Enjoy!

Which side were your u? I had a great night but feet are agony, I got inside about 7. 15 and sat once to pee 😂😂

ABlindAssassin · 16/04/2022 08:36

We were on the right, we had a great view despite being upstairs.

I fancy the view from up there 😂, my right foot is weirdly painful, possibly from "of the night".

Don't forget earplugs. As well as protecting their ears, they get to hear better as there's less distortion.

Thanks @gingerhills. We did take ear plugs and they came in really handy
