Is there any other app than bumble where you can make friends? Or any suggestions on how to make new friends? Thank you in advance

What type of 'friend' are you looking for? Bumble as I understand is a dating app?

HereForTheGloss · 13/04/2022 21:45

Have you tried MeetUp.com

My local area has a number of Facebook groups to go along and make friends, just off the top of my head there is - Knit and natter, a walking group, book club, a womens group that does theatre trips, gardening club at the local allotment.

woolypollie · 13/04/2022 22:16

@Belle96 just friend, female friends. Not dating

It is frustrating when people say this but really the best way to make friends is to meet them through an activity.

Online dating is horrendous - online dating for friends is pretty much as bad!

Easier said than done to just be able to pick up a new hobby though!

woolypollie · 13/04/2022 22:25

@princessbabychampagnechlamydia this is true but I work FT so don't really have time for new hobbies... other than the gym which I should do (put on lbs during lockdown) but gym etc causes my anxiety to hit the roof. So self conscious and low self esteem for anything like that.

Meet up

princessbabychampagnechlamydia · 13/04/2022 22:31

Yes I know what you mean! I'm the same really. In that case though would you have time for friends or is it more a virtual friend you're looking for?

I always think I want to make loads of friends then realise I actually don't have time to be going for coffee and out for meals with someone Confused

woolypollie · 13/04/2022 22:47

@princessbabychampagnechlamydia I would like a virtual friend... but then I want a real life friend too... would have to be a real "weekend friend" though 😂

Have you tried a Bootcamp class? Usually evenings/ weekends. Outside, so less stressful thank the gym! Have made some really good friends over the years from fitness training.

woolypollie · 13/04/2022 23:03

@Daria32 no I haven't... but thinking boot camp would be intense? Or might just be the sound of it lol

Join NextDoor for your local area and make a post asking if any other ladies of similar age/interest wang to meet up for a coffee and pretty soon you should have group going that can progress into doing other things together and activities etc.

@ElenaSt thank you I will try this

@woolypollie not intense at all! All different levels/ abilities, everyone really friendly. I was scared when I first started (post baby!) but it was fab and just a really lovely community feel. Even better when you can plan walks/ bike rides and you have similar minded friends to do it with!

woolypollie · 13/04/2022 23:36

@Daria32 thank you I will look into this! - I have lockdown weight I need to get rid off.
