Is there one like Black MN? Or have I missed it? I love the main MN board ut as a brown MNer there are very many times I would like to chat to other brown MNers.

Light brown or dark brown?

TeenPlusCat · 13/04/2022 08:52

There isn't but if there was enough demand there could be I think.
You might need to 'define your terms' eg are you thinking ancestors from Indian sub continent or something different?

JanisMoplin · 13/04/2022 08:57

Indian sub-continent:) But the Black MN board seems quite wide ranging.

I’m assuming OP means brown as in south Asian, like browngirlmagazine.com/ . I think Black MN came about because a lot of discussions on racism and black women’s experiences were being derailed by comments like “how can you know it was racism…”, so there was a need for such a space (still happens though). I guess if a lot of south Asian MN users felt their conversations were being derailed and themselves being gaslit, and prevented from having a discussion then it would be good but I haven’t seen/experienced that myself.

You'll have to be pretty resilient to get one. The poster asking for the Black MN board had to put up with a lot of people trying to whitesplain why it wasn't needed.

You will need to show a need/demand though.

I want to explain why this idea came to me but I think threads about threads are not allowed?:( I don't think I am being derailed or gaslit, but occasionally I feel like I should be able to discuss ways of life that are not Anglocentric without being told they are misogynistic or stupid or whatever. Cultural differences mainly.
