Driving test today...tips?!

I had a nightmare instructor and failed my driving test a few years ago numerous times...lockdown happened, theory test expired and it has been a long (expensive) slog to get to this point.

just got back into it and now going for a test today.

Any tips/advice? I get very nervous which causes me to overthink things so trying to remain calm!

TIA

Banana, paracetamol and Bach's Rescue Remedy. Worked for me last year.

Good luck!

Years ago mumsnet recommended a banana and 2 paracetamol an hour before and it worked, highly recommended!

If you think you may have made a mistake, try not to think about it again. I made a few mistakes but still passed. It's a nice day today so the examiner might be in a good mood (mine was!)

Another vote for a banana. As a musician who used to get nervous before performances it really does help. Good luck!

Ages ago, but I remember my ex policeman instructor making me do my perfect (as I thought) hill start over and over and over again.
Because I hadn’t looked over my shoulder.

He said that would be an instant fail.

Not sure whether you still have to do hill starts though!

Good luck! 🤞🤞🤞

Don’t crash into anything Grin

Deep breaths. Keep telling yourself you can do it.

Eat a banana, have a sip of water just before so your throat doesn’t dry, check your mirrors obviously and drive like you’ve got some loose eggs on the back seat that you don’t want to crack Grin smoothly and carefully. Good luck!

No advice but just wanted to wish you lots of luck! I've been learning for 18 months and it must be the hardest thing I've ever done but I'm almost there and hope to be in your position by the end of May.

I failed my first test, speeding and almost crashed into a car I didn't see because I was so nervous! My second car I tried paracetamol, Kalms and a banana, which worked, I passed with no faults!

Also ignore the driving examiner tapping a screen or writing things down, they aren't necessarily mistakes, but they have to tick off when certain things have been achieved, for example emergency stop and a manoeuvre.

How did you get on, @drivingnerves?
