Bra size help? Anyone please? Intervention?

Last time I tried bra shopping, I came home empty handed and upset. Today I’m not letting anyone near me, but now I’m confused!

I’m currently wearing a 32G, but the bra is old and will have stretched (when I said this at the shop, the assistant looked me up and down and said I must have a very small back…. I do, but massive breastfeeding breasts that have never gone down).

I’m trying to work out international sizing as well.

I’ve just measured myself on the shop sizer and it’s sized me at 80G (hence the international sizing…). This puts me at 36f…. A sister size to 32G.

Are these sizes right…

32G = 70h
34ff = ??
36f = 80g

If these don’t fit (new tighter bra vs old stretched one that I’m wearing), where do I go from there?

I have lots of breast tissue (round the sides as well. The difficulty is finding a bra that gets all the tissue in that doesn’t look matronly. (Totally possible, but I’ve moved away from the nice shop that used to fit me).

What do you measure under your bust as that would be your back size?
Have you checked the boob or bust measuring guide?

SnowdropsInSpring · 12/04/2022 17:22

Also, I had overspillage last time (when I came home upset). She said the bra fit, and that it was to be expected (when you're fat), but I’ve never had this before when the bra has fitted properly.

Overspill in the cup? Means cup size is too small

Can you follow the steps on the Boob or Bust website? I find them a good fitting service.

mdh2020 · 12/04/2022 17:28

Look at the bravissimo website and then phone them for advice. They are great.

36gg boob or bust

I found guides like this useful based on the fit of current bra, I had an idea of my bra size. When I was measured the Lady agreed

You shouldn't have overspill (even if you have extra weight) you need a bigger cup if so.

That’s what I said - then she brought me a massive cup bra (full coverage, unflattering). I have always managed to find nice, well fitting ones before.

If you get a 36 back on BOB how are you managing to wear a 32 back bra? Or has it stretched loads?

dementedpixie · 12/04/2022 17:32

I dont like full cup bras either. I'm a 36GG/H and wear balcony or plunge bras

YerAWizardHarry · 12/04/2022 17:32

Are you pulling the tape measure literally as hard as you can for underbust? I know you said your 32 is stretched but seems a big jump

SnowdropsInSpring · 12/04/2022 17:33

Because it’s ooooold (I said that it will have stretched).

Is the over spill under your armpits? It's called the tail of Spence and I'm not sure that it's all supposed to be in the cup, I don't think that if is, have a google. It isn't because you are fat. Some women have it and some don't. I do, and I've bad it at all weights from slim to a bit fat!

SnowdropsInSpring · 12/04/2022 17:37

Now it says 34hh (I put in .5 this time, instead of rounding the number up)

Maybe… I don’t get it with my current bra though (or it’s hardly noticeable)

Overspill in the cup no, but overspill on the back band is quite common unless there is no fat on the back.

I find it much more helpful to get a new bra and go from there. Are you overseas? I am a 30F and there is literally nothing for me in this entire country, so I have to order from the UK which can be expensive! Having said that, I recently found gossard glossies on amazon which is really helpful.

International bra sizes don't seem to have double cup sizes, so it sort of goes up really fast like this:

65 D - 30 D
65 E - 30 DD
65F - 30 E
65 G - 30 F
65 H - 30FF
65 I - 30 G
65 J - 30 GG
65 K - 30 H

etc etc. And 70 = 32, 75 = 34, 80 = 36 etc.

I just ordered 65G on amazon and its a true 30F.

Yes, I’m overseas and I’ve never had to buy here before (travel here a lot, but have had a luggage mishap😫)

I'm a 32F although sometimes I go up to a G. I don't recommend messing with your back size if 32 fits good stick with it and adjust your cup size.

Close.

I went and the best fits were 34i (i cup 😫😫😫). Much better experience than last time. She also did the thing that @dontblamemee said - found the back size, then adjusted the cup. One is a different size, but it’s a different style. I’m so relieved to have bought some!

I'm a 34hh. I've got some lovely fitting bras, so comfortable, non matronly, from Pour moi that I bought from amazon.

SnowdropsInSpring · 12/04/2022 21:17

I’ve never thought of buying bras from Amazon before.

OP posts:
QuentininQuarantino · 13/04/2022 09:46

I feel really guilty buying from amazon, but after brexit I refuse to pay the ridiculous import customs charges buying from the UK, and I can't find anything over a B cup and under 100E locally, so Amazon it is.
