Which Jo Malone candle would you like if these were your preferences?

I am buying a Jo Malone candle tomorrow for a friend’s birthday. She likes floral fragrances, doesn’t like citrus. She really likes fig, it they don’t do a figgy one, unfortunately.

My own preference would be lime basil and mandarin, I think it is absolutely lovely, but I don’t want to get that as she doesn’t like citrus.

So I am leaning towards pear and freesia. Or red roses.

Any thoughts please? (Not along the lines of don’t buy one Smile!!)

Peony and blush suede! It's amazing!

HDready · 11/04/2022 18:18

Peony and blush if she likes floral. I also like pomegranate noir

Buy a Jo Loves fig one - it's created by Jo Malone herself.

Red roses is lovely.

I like pear and freesia but really dislike red roses (it reminds me of old ladies Blush).
Wild Bluebell is my spring favourite!

ShirleyBadass · 11/04/2022 18:35

Love pear and freesia.

Elsielouise13 · 11/04/2022 18:38

The honeysuckle one. Can’t remember actual name but that or pomegranate noir.

Have had several PN candles and they are lovely but am tending towards honeysuckle for next purchase

Jota67 · 11/04/2022 18:39

Peony and blush suede for sure

WellTidy · 11/04/2022 18:44

Pomegranate noir will be too heavy for her, given her preference for floral.

I haven’t tried the print and blush suede, seems very popular, so will absolutely give that a good sniff.

Reassuring that pear and freesia is popular.

I will give red roses a miss then - hadn’t considered it to be granny like and don’t want her to think that!

I'd skip Jo Malone and go with Diptyque figuier or Baies.

itsacon · 11/04/2022 19:54

If she loves figs then go for the Jo Loves figs one?!

WellTidy · 11/04/2022 20:27

It’s a no to the Jo Loves unfortunately, as I am buying tomorrow morning and it’s the Jo Malone shop that is local for me.

What did you get OP? I'm planning on buying one as a gift but can't get to an actual shop.

WellTidy · 12/04/2022 16:21

I went with the English pear and freesia. I hope she likes it! I sprayed some of the perfume on my wrist and I like it Smile.

If I’d been buying for myself, I’d have bought the lime basil and mandarin, or (surprisingly) the gooseberry and elderflower charity candle which I was really blown away by.

Interesting. I'm torn between English pear & freesia and Peony & blush suede. Difficult to choose without actually smelling them! Hope your friend likes it.

Popsicle33 · 12/04/2022 17:06

The charity floral candles are gorgeous especially the Iris & Lady Moore. None of the others are strong enough for me. The diffusers are shit though. I've just thrown out a pear & freesia one in frustration as it smells of fuck all!

hattie43 · 12/04/2022 17:47

Baise is lovely but subtle

Jo Malone possibly Wood sage and sea salt . I'm not a florals fine tbh and my go too's are lime basil and mandarin and pomegranate noir, the classics I guess

Diptyque Fig or Diptyque Baies, in my opinion far better candles than JM

Any brand that has Premium designs in their name is absolutely not premium. Just had a glance and they look as noun they’re from Home Bargains only with a higher price tag. Like someone’s bought a job lot of candles from Ali Express and laser etched a logo onto the lids.
