My brother is in hospital with sepsis

My brother is 30, he is an alcoholic. He's recently had seizures due to alcohol withdrawal. He bit his tongue, very badly. He doesn't take care of himself. My sister went to his house and noticed this and a wound on his hand and took him to hospital. He has been admitted with sepsis.

Does anyone have any experience? I had sepsis in labour but I was already in hospital and was treated quickly with a AB drip, there has been a delay in his diagnosis and treatment and I'm scared.

I'm so sorry I don't know but I just wanted to say I'm thinking of you. Medicine can do wonderful things now a days so fingers crossed that he will be fine. I hope you've managed to get some rest

I don't have any personal experience of sepsis however he's in the best place getting the right treatment and hopefully responds well to treatment.
He'll also be treated accordingly for his alcohol withdrawals so shouldn't have any seizures within hospital. They may also ask about referring him for support for his alcoholism once he is feeling better.

Are you getting updates from the hospital to put your mind at rest

My brother had sepsis after an operation. It was scary at the time but he made a full recovery. He was 45 and fit. He was treated with anti biotics but was in intensive care. Hopefully now they know about it your brother will get the right treatment. And it might start him sorting himself out. Good luck, it is a frightening illness but age is on his side.

It sounds scary but he is in the right place and getting treatment. Hopefully they have caught it quickly before it spreads.
