I’ve just seen it trending on Twitter- what is it and will it do anything?

Is this the thing telling everyone to turn their power off for 10 mins on the 10th? Because apparently Spain did this and their government decided to take action on utility prices?

If yes it’s silly because no one can really think that will make our government do anything! Oh no people turned off their power whatever shall we do 🤦‍♀️

MrsDThomas · 10/04/2022 17:47

No. What for? Means fuck all TBH,

Stellaris22 · 10/04/2022 18:02

It's very silly and the only thing you'll do is slightly irritate the National Grid control room.

Daphnedot · 10/04/2022 18:03

I'll be fast asleep by 10pm

TheFlis12345 · 10/04/2022 18:05

It’s nonsense and won’t change anything.

If we all turned all our power off during half time of the world cup final (or something similar) it 'may' cause a bit of an issue - it would certainly be noticed.

At 10pm at night, demand is generally low. fridge/freezer and tv/computer is all that is in use in a large number of households and the grid may or may not notice.

I'd like to see some evidence that it was done in Spain and had an effect because I don't believe it.

It makes no sense at all.

It's a 'thing' for certain people to post on social media with lots of angry and sad emojis whilst in the dark.

It's not going to make any difference at all and shows a deep lack of understanding of geopolitics, the pople promoting it are the type who will update there twitter/facebook profile to show how they really support 'current issue of the day'
