Pram colour debate

Before I start...I want to acknowledge that I know this is a trivial matter and I am counting my blessings I'm lucky enough to get this far before any trolls want to take over!
I'm just wondering if this would mess with anyone elses head or am I being ridiculous?
Two prams one navy one grey...
Love both!
Grey cons - I feel it looks dull and a bit like school uniform
Navy cons - I'll attach a photo whereby if using carry seat in frame the carry seat is black and handle navy
Would this bother anyone else or is it just me? Would it sway you?
Am I being ridiculous?

It would annoy me, but I'd buy the navy one because I like it a lot more. I don't think you'll use the car seat in it very much anyway. It's handy for nipping in places, but most of the time you'll have the proper bit on anyway.

Congratulations!!!

Ps: print the thread out & put it your baby baby book! It'll give you a good laugh on their 18th!!

I would ignore those that say you will get rid of the big pram, I loved mine used it right up till my daughter was 4 we got a cheap buggy at one point but it was SO hard to push compare to my big one, that I ended up going back, the tiny wheels made it very difficult and it was hard to turn corners.
I also don’t think they look that comfortable for the child but wow hated pushing it the most. So you won’t necessarily get rid of it after 6 m🙄

Out of the two I prefer the navy

Raininglemons · 10/04/2022 00:15

I honestly think prams in general are such a waste of money. It’s all so fleeting. Bung them in a sling then they get big and pop them in a pushchair. Job done 😀. I recommend the baby jogger city mini. Three children. Dragged through woods parks beaches and all sorts and still going strong! And bonus you pull a handle and it fold in seconds.

I hate slings, they are not for everyone, maybe a short trip to the shop or something but would hate to wear one all day.

mariebaby3 · 10/04/2022 00:37

The grey is nicer imo. And the mismatched colours would really bug me on the other one.

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 10/04/2022 00:43

I'd buy whatever colour combo was the cheapest.

victopai · 10/04/2022 00:58

I have this in navy and I agree the black is a no go. Also the rain cover is black.
I have just gone from pram to the buggy part. And while it looks a lovely buggy. Honestly is is absolutely massive. I can't get anything in my boot and it's clunky and hard to use. I really wish I had considered this before buying. Good luck and congratulations on your baby.

PinkFizz19 · 10/04/2022 03:53

@Curiousmum38 Not sure if you know or are already aware but they do this pram in black (its called Pepper) also. We've currently got it on order. I liked the Clay (Grey) until I saw the black and felt that was the best match all around. Happy shopping x

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 10/04/2022 06:30

We used our big pram for 5 years solid (two children) pretty much daily. I liked walking.

I'd be making sure they had decent wheels, comfy, supportive seat and easy to fold before colour. The colour being a neutral one you can easily jazz up. (Although we got a red colour as it was nice).

TulipsGarden · 10/04/2022 06:49

I prefer the black (and I have a black pram myself, still love it three years on). The mis-match would bug me, but as people say you don't use the car seat for long, or very much. I was paranoid about mine being in it for too long so I think only attached it to the pram twice.

I do not have a hideous bright blanket with a character on, because I didn't buy one and if someone else had I would have hidden it away. I also never used a sling, I have big boobs and a ribcage injury which meant they were all uncomfy for me.

And I'm still using the big pram with my three year old for long trips, because it's sturdy, comfy for him and has a big base that I can stash a lot of junk in (which is why I bought it in the first place).

Top tip - do make sure it fits through all the doors you might need to get it through. Ours only just fits.

carefullycourageous · 10/04/2022 06:53

I think when you know you are overthinking somthing that doesn't matter it is best to step away and come back to it another time.

It is a pram. It doesn't matter what colour you choose. It does matter that you get a good quality car seat.

Caspianberg · 10/04/2022 07:01

Do they do black?

We have plain black on both prams ( main large jogger and travel one). Means you can add any colour and it goes better imo. Ie we have a nice sheepskin footmuff in winter (black), and thinner normal blankets/ Muslins/ sun shades in navy/ green/ yellow or what we we use that day.

That bag clipped on handle hanging down would annoy me as right by legs walking. So get a bag that your happy to carry or shove in basket as well

Lulu1919 · 10/04/2022 07:04

It would put me off the nine matching...most odd
But if it was cheaper by a lot I'd buy
I prefer navy to grey as a colour generally
If same price I'd probably end up with the grey

BertieBotts · 10/04/2022 07:05

Navy looks lovely on a pram, really classy.

Grey hides stains a bit better. Black/dark coloured frames show up scratches more easily.

You can coordinate either with a changing bag, footmuff, seat liner in loads of different colours.

If you mean the car seat by the carry seat, why not see if it comes with universal adapters and just buy the car seat separately? Then you can choose a colour you like.

RaRathebravemouse · 10/04/2022 07:11

Just choose a different pram. We have the same pram in the "Brompton" colours which I think is a nicer grey with a brown handle. We didn't get the silver cross car seat as it's not one of the safest so we got a cybex car seat on grey. The car seat shouldn't be on the pram very often or for very long so I wouldn't worry about colour matching that but there are other black aspects of a SC pram that it would match. Basically the navy pram us navy and black anyway.

BertieBotts · 10/04/2022 07:16

Cybex do a navy blue car seat for example and they have the same colour across their range so you can get the basic cheap seat or the fancy full featured one.

I’d always go for a darker colour. Just too much experience with marks and stains from vomit, food, drink and even poo tbh. Have 5 DC so I’m fairly experienced at this stage. Bugaboo prams are the best imo.

GeneLovesJezebel · 10/04/2022 08:05

I prefer the navy.

mattyann · 10/04/2022 08:09

Just get a different colour car seat that goes with the handle a bit better.

Also do not listen to people telling you it'll be covered in a garish, bright character blanket and crumbs soon enough or those that tell you that you'll no doubt swap to a buggy by 6 months....people say this all the time like it's an actual fact and it really isn't.

Roselilly36 · 10/04/2022 08:14

I like the navy pram, looks much nicer than the grey.

Creamarrancardi · 10/04/2022 08:18

@mattyann

Agree … this was not the case for us at all.

supadupapupascupa · 10/04/2022 08:37

Navy. We NEVER put the car seat into our frame, not once. If baby was in it and sleeping we just carried it in and out of house. Longer journeys transferred to the pram. They grow out of that size really fast too.

Legoisthebest · 10/04/2022 10:12

Jeez you lot are so boring....my comment about a blanket was light-hearted Hmm

Lynnthesearesexnotgenderpeople · 10/04/2022 10:17

Aw, this thread is making me all nostalgic- I loved the excitement of picking a pram, debating which colour, thinking about the ways in which I would use it. Good Times! Smile

I prefer the grey by the way OP.

toastofthetown · 10/04/2022 10:18

The black car seat isn't an issue. They shouldn't be in the car seat for too long anyway, so most of the time the baby will be in the carry cot. The navy handle gong straight into a black ring really does bother me and that will be on the stroller the whole time.
