Ramadan

Our lovely new neighbours have just brought round some amazing food, they are currently fasting for Ramadan and wanted to share. I'd like to get them something (and their young children?) but I don't know what the tradition is.

Can anyone help?

That's lovely.

I'm not Muslim so hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along soon.

You could ask them to come for a meal after Ramadan, I think, but as I said not an expert, the iftar - the evening meal is often shared but I think it is they share with you not the other way round.
Dates are eaten at the start of the meal so you could get some dates, but be aware they may have a cupboard full.

Do they have children?

Maybe some Easter eggs, although you can get Easter eggs for adults.

Dates, some chocolate ( always go down well) or some homemade cakes. I'm a Muslim so for me something sweet would be lovely and also something children can also enjoy.

You can get them anything they can have for Iftar which is the breaking of their fast, anything from savory dishes to cakes.

Traditions depend on where they are from, muslims come from so many different countries and cultures.
I would just give something nice back if u feel like, as ling as no pork, no animal products like lard ot gelatine and no alcohol.
There are no other rules on what gifts they can accept.

My sister always gives her neighbours cake when they bring round iftar delights. Seems to go down well.
