Traffic in Kent

Just a heads up to anyone travelling around Kent this weekend, take extra supplies and be prepared to be stuck in traffic (because of the ferry issues causing problems around the M20 and M2).
A 30 minute journey took me 5 hours last weekend and this one might be worse with more schools breaking up.

Thank you! Sounds horrendous

Kent is huge!

Yep, last week was crazy and we're nowhere near the docks or M20. I think I'll just stay at home today.
I feel for the poor lorry drivers. Bloody P&O.

I'm supposed to go from TW to Canterbury to visit MIL next week...seriously considering going by train......

Carbiesdreamhouse · 09/04/2022 08:29

M2 is clogged from Sittingbourne to Canterbury turn off. Its taking at least 40 mins to get through it and it's been like it for over a week now. Loads of cars overheating in it too and then breaking down in the road causing more problems.

Brenley Corner Faversham was terrible Thursday and the M2 turnoff.
I went to Canterbury by train Friday it was much more restful!

It really does depend where you are going and google maps will tell you which roads to avoid.

We're in Kent, DP has driven his usual commute through Dover and through Ashford with no issues every day this week and last week with no notable delays. Of course there are an awful lot of HGV's stacked up in left hand lands etc so it looks daunting in photos but traffic around them does still move. It would be difficult to get a car to the docks specifically but there is no need to drive there unless you're boarding, diversions are in place.

I hear things are worse near Maidstone towards Ashford but Ashford is always awful at peak times.

Frankly the biggest issue the last few days is that we can't get petrol where we are for love nor money.

If your only way out of Kent is along the M2 you cant 'get round it' thats the problem
