Question for anyone who’s confirmed a child’s identity online for passport application.

I am about to renew my child’s passport online and have a question about the process. What do the passport office ask the person confirming the child’s identity? The person knows the child, dob etc and my name and dob but is my friend knows dp in passing but would know his dob for example. Is it like the paper version of the form where they only need to identify the parent that is applying for the passport?

I’ve done it a couple of times - I’ve only been asked to confirm that information is correct, not put it in myself. There’s nothing to stop you sending your friend a note of DOBs and middle names - my friends have always done this when they ask me.

Ok thank you, so they do ask both parents details then. I will make sure to give them all the information then, good it is only confirming the info is correct

I was asked to confirm
Child’s DOB
Child’s place of birth
Parents’ names and dates of birth
Whether the photo was a good likeness of the child.

Whenever I’ve done it I’ve just asked the person for the info.

I think there are three optios and you have to choose the correct one

Clearly wasn’t supposed to write ‘semen’ , and ‘seem to be taking longer’

I’m sure it said to answer to the best of your knowledge. That may just be the address section though.

I did it about 3 weeks ago for DD’s best friend and her brother.

The verifier also needs their own passport number

How long does it take from the referee confirming the identity online to getting confirmation the Id check is complete? Is it instant or do you have to wait for the passport office to verify stuff? Hours? A day? Or instant?

If the child is over 13, and still looks like their old photo, ID does not need to be checked.

Just been turned down twice on verifier's identity not meeting the criteria. Wondering if something else is wrong as the second one is a retired professionally qualified engineer. How can I find out?!
