Legoland

My kids (primary aged) have an inset day coming up and have never been to Legoland so I've booked tickets hoping it won't be as busy as usual.
A few questions for you:

  • will I be ok without queue passes (can't really afford the extra cost)
  • any extra tips for making it a fun day?
Thanks all!

You absolutely need the fast pass. The cheapest one they do is fine and then you can do the big playgrounds, ice cream stop, the tiny rides that don’t have long queues etc etc whilst it queues for you. I get it’s expensive but if it’s not doable for you, I honestly wouldn’t go.

Oh and all the schools around us in London are on holiday and same for my mum who works at a school in Surrey. I would expect it to be heaving.

Anyone know if schools are likely to be off the week of 23 may? Ours are off the following week for half term which covers the Queen's birthday, bank hol week.

All of the local schools have broken up.

Do you mean Windsor? Windsor schools are off next week and week after. The private schools of course are already off.

I’d also recommend the fast passes. We went last May and had the middle rate pass and it made the difference, I note a previous poster said they got on 4 rides during the same week, we got on 14/15 using the pass so definitely worth the extra cost. We bought them again for our trip in February but only the cheapest ones this time.
Food isn’t great but is ok and saves lugging bags around all day. My child was 8 last year when we went and 9 this year - last year they found the rides great, this year a bit tame, so I’d take that into account too.

We've been on an inset day before and it wasn't too busy at all. Queues absolutely fine, all great, kids loved it

I took my dc on an inset day and it was virtually empty! Was great! Walked straight into the rides BUT it was a random inset day slap bang in the middle of term. I think an inset day either side of the holiday will be busy!

It’ll be heaving. It’s not a typical inset day as a lot of the south has been off already so the Easter holidays are in full swing.

We went today and it was awesome!
We didn't buy the fast passes, we just used the app to see the queue times and went to the ones which were under 15 minutes. We all loved it 😍

We were there today too! Glad you all had a good time. We did exactly the same queued for 1 ride that was over 30 mins, but went for the quicker rides. Kids went on the pirate ship twice as it was so quick

Neverreturntoathread · 08/04/2022 22:27

I’d strongly recommend the £15 each queue passes if you stretch to it. Same wait time but you can wander round the park until it’s your turn.

We went recently (in school holidays) and had a lovely day. Very well maintained and clean park. Most of the rides are aimed at age 4-9 or so. For older thrill seekers the best ride is The Dragon which is over very fast (maybe less than a minute?) but has some great drops on it.

Main tip is even if you don’t buy queue passes, download the legoland app and use it to keep an eye on queue times. Some rides get very busy and then suddenly very quiet and if you get there fast you msy find a ride with a v short wait.

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 08/04/2022 22:32

Take a picnic - the food is shite and you’ll waste time queuing for it

Idiotintraining · 08/04/2022 23:20

When we went we loved it. Alot of the rides had queuing. There is an app you can download that shows how long queues are. The big rides you will probably be queuing for an hour or so. We didn't and next time will get a fast pass so we can go as they let them on first.

If you need to stay we stayed in a local hotel and had the same fun day we would of done staying local
