Child’s first passport

Can anyone who has applied for a child’s first passport recently tell me how long it took for you to get it from application stage?

I have 10 weeks and 1 day from when I applied to when we are due to go so I’m sure it will be fine but people have been telling me horror stories so I’m now worried and anxious it won’t come in time! Sad

We’re still waiting, haven’t heard anything since 11th April when documents were received. We don’t go away until August so I’m not bothered on a timing front, but it’s annoying all the same!

Applied for two of my sons passports (3rd passports for both) on March 13th.
Received youngest’s passport on March 28th. They requested other son’s birth certificate which we sent recorded delivery. We received emails and texts telling us to send it in - which we had. We tried calling numerous times and don’t even get the option to stay on hold.

Today we received an email telling us that if we don’t send the birth certificate they are cancelling our application with no refund. We FINALLY spoke to someone after holding for three hours (hubby is a tenacious fucker). They do have the birth certificate and they are escalating the application. Apparently they don’t have proof of parentage for our eldest (so how did he get his two previous passports?) and they’re more stringent with the checks nowadays.

I regularly work with the HO and I’m a fan of WFH however their current system is unsustainable. The cock ups are across the board.

@CaveMum
Same here, I actually got a message saying received documents on the 29th of March... and still nothing at all, Peterborough

Tiredmamaaa · 01/05/2022 21:21

Has anyone had any movement with their applications yet? I’m still at documents received from 13th April!

We had documents received notification on 6th April, application approved on 21st April and the passport arrived on 28th. Fingers crossed for everyone waiting - horrible stress!

Feckingfeck · 01/05/2022 21:35

Why dont you use the fast track service?

Tiredmamaaa · 01/05/2022 22:07

Once the application is in and the supporting documents are sent, you can’t change to a fast track application unless you withdraw your original applixation. But even then you need to wait for them to send you the documents back so you can do fast track and that takes weeks 😔

I’m in the same situation! We were going on holiday in October but I found out that I was pregnant so I’ve moved the holiday to July 12th. Applied for the passport on 7th April, they have received the documents but I sign of approval so I’m stressing! We have 10 weeks and it says 10 weeks processing time, already done 4! Hoping it comes!

Tiredmamaaa · 03/05/2022 20:23

Hopefully this gives you some hope…I applied on the 30th March, documents marked received the 13th April and I got the approval yesterday. Hopefully you aren’t too much longer. It’s so stressful!

Oh that is reassuring! Im
going to hold my nerve until the end of May and hopefully it will get here!

Tiredmamaaa · 03/05/2022 21:22

What office was your documents sent to? Mines was Bootle if that helps? And I just got a notification at 9.05pm to say it’s been printed and will be delivered in the next few days! I think they must be working hard to catch up because i got the approval on a bank holiday and the printing confirmation while I am in bed 😂

Still deafening silence at this end!

Tiredmamaaa · 03/05/2022 22:33

There really doesn’t seem to be any process with date order which isn’t fair. I really hope you hear something in the next couple of days!

Hey I got the confirmation that it’s been approved today so I should have it next week. From first application (7th April) I think it will have taken around 6 weeks which isn’t too bad!
