Feel so embarrased

Please be gentle. I feel really embarrased right now. Friend left something over when she last came to mine. I thought I would take it to her and see her too.

After a 2 hour bus and train journey I got to her area. I messaged to say I would be there in 8 mins.

I got there. They don’t have a buzzer so I knocked a few times no answer.

I then called 3 times. No answer.

I waited for about 5-10 mins. Nothing. I checked whatsap and she was online.

I don’t know why she didn’t call me after she missed my calls?

So I left her item behind the wheelie bin. Took a picture sent it to her and I said I’m going back.

She replied back saying thanks and if im not far to come back to which I replied I am as I walk fast.

I can’t make sense of what happened. I defo got annoyed after that long journey. And just feel really silly for doing that.

Was I wrong to be annoyed?

EX “friend” now, I hope, OP! That was a disgraceful way to treat you, after you’d travelled so far and gone to such trouble to restore an item that she forgot. Whoever the hell she thinks she is, she obviously doesn’t have any respect or concern for you.

You'd end a friendship because someone didn't answer the door? I doubt she was staring out of the window and maliciously doing it to annoy OP.

Dropping the friendship seems really extreme. There’s no mention of what happened afterwards. Was it a nice length catch up with a big apology or did she take the item and shut the door? This could all be a big misunderstanding.

This sort of thing happened with me and my husband once. His phone was on silent so didn’t hear it. He was signed in to on WhatsApp on the laptop and looked online when I thought to message that way. I was livid. He showed me all the missed calls and unread texts…he was in the bath.

I would be cross too, if she knew you was coming and made all that effort she could of invited you in for a cuppa. It's not like your the next street away, sounds like a CF.

I'm a bit confused. Have you given her the opportunity to say what happened? Maybe she left her phone her phone unlocked with Whatsapp open and didn't spot your messages. She did ask you to come back so it seems like it's probably a misunderstanding, but you won't know without asking her.

She did though? Reading the op again, the friend messaged and asked the op to come back but the op said no.
