I love this game but it is sometimes disappointing when the secret word is so common! It would be great to have some meatier, more obscure words.

How obvious/cryptic?!

I've tried all kinds of relationships and physical things that could be 793 and none of them are even green.

I think I need an obvious pm please!

Finally! I was going too concrete.

I solved Semantle #68 in 78 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of -0.19. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #10. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 48.22 (990/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

I solved Semantle #68 in 54 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 4.06. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #34. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 36.71 (931/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

Lovely quick climb up the greens once I got a hook - I think I got some excellent leads. Total guesses doesn’t reflect how quick I was as DD had a play with it! It makes a change from getting stuck in synonym hell.

Why do you need more obscure words? You can see from all the posts on these threads that it can take, sometimes, hundreds of guesses to find the secret word.

That's just being snobby.

Every day there are posters who get it quickly, and posters who take 300 guesses. And a lot of that is down to luck.

Which all adds to the reasons why we love/hate this game!

Hmm. I see that @Florador has only posted on 6 other threads, and not once - apart from this post - posted on any of the Semantle threads. So I think they are goading us a bit here.
