Anyone impacted by Specsavers recall?

Recalling pretty much all their bottles of contact lens solution, it seems. I’ve got about 50 of them mostly unopened in the garage.

There is a process to follow for claiming a refund for them, but you can only process 6 bottles at a time and it’s a faff. Does anyone know how much the reimbursement is for? I’m not sure whether it’s worth the hassle yet

Ah I've had a letter about a recall but no instructions on how yet!

There’s a webpage to manage it I believe that’s the only way to get the refund. They are apparently going to send out a prepaid Mastercard…

They send 3 bottles every few months and I don’t know if I’m stingy with it or not, but 1 bottle lasts me about 6 months! I also got given a load for free when I changed lenses a few years ago. The manufacturer is CooperVision, unsure if it’s related

Yes, I am. I rang them as I had about 18 bottles so that's what I'd do if I were you.

Sorry, posted too soon. Once the serial numbered bottles are registered, you need to sign & date each bottle and send photos.

I did all this weeks ago and am still waiting for progress. I received this email (attached) today.

If you have 50 bottles, please be aware you can only claim for those still in date.

Honestly wasn't going to bother. I've got dozens of bottles, and I've been using them for ages with no ill effects.

Ooh I just discarded the letter, but I might bother if it’s a worthwhile refund. Does any one know how much you get? I binned a load of bottles, but I also would have had about 50 bottles. I clearly never use the stuff why you are meant to!

I uploaded 6 bottles, it took ages so was going to see if anyone had actually received a reimbursement to find out if it’s worth the hassle. I guess technically we have paid for them.

They sent me an interim bottle of solution and I do think it’s much better, my lenses are really clear!

My thinking was that even if it is £2-£3 per bottle, its worth it? I don't know, maybe I'll be sadly disappointed, I was hoping it may pay for an online food shop (or part thereof)!

I don't know how much it is per bottle, but yes we've paid for them!

@Browncoo6 Just to add you're meant to use a new bottle every month. I also used to have a surplus of bottles as they lasted me months and months. However I was told off by an optician for this a couple of years ago as she said that once opened, they should only be used for a month! As after this point the contents stop being sterile! I now start a new bottle every month when I start new lenses.

Just to update, that I got my online Mastercard via CooperVision this week with £47.00 loaded on it. The money can only be used online annoyingly and I'd rather have the cash but I'll use it towards a food shop or similar.

@rachelohrachel, did you chase them up, I got an email beginning of April saying I would get my refund in about a week-still waiting. Is there a phone number or email to contact? Thanks

You can stop getting solution from them, just contact them and say you don't want any more delivering. I have loads of bottles so just stopped them coming. They take the price off, I think they're only £1 each, but if you're not using them then does that matter? They also say use within 3m, not 1.
