OXFOOOOOOORD

FoldedCard · 03/04/2022 15:31

Forgot it was on!!

Cambridge for me 🚣‍♀️

balalake · 03/04/2022 15:36

Not watching.

I gave up when I realised how some of the team are only token students, and recruited for their rowing ability. If it was undergraduates only then it would be a genuine contest.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 03/04/2022 15:36

Not going too well so far then!

eddiemairswife · 03/04/2022 15:41

It used to be a really big thing when I was at school, and we all wore favours supporting our team. I too think it should confined to undergraduates only.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 03/04/2022 15:42

Well done Oxford.

Better luck next year Cambridge.

Antarcticant · 03/04/2022 15:48

Really glad the Oxford men have ended their losing streak. I hope the women can follow suit next year. Both really great races though!

Riverlee · 03/04/2022 15:52

Cambridge supporter also. 😀 for women.😟 for men.

Antarcticant · 03/04/2022 16:08

Oxford women looking mightily disgruntled on the podium.

I was rooting for Cambridge, But seeing Tobias Schroder in the Oxford boat overcome by his first Boat Race win had me crying.

I agree with the undergraduate sentiment. We had a man in our year who was not at all interested in teaching (we were a teacher training college at the time) get into our college on what was slightly lower grades for Cambridge, then managed a transfer to another college after demonstrating his frankly brilliant rowing skills. We didn't bat an eyelid (other than being sad that the sight of Henry - not his real name- in a towel in the morning was a thing of the past) but looking back, it's so wrong he took up a potential teacher's space to further his ambitions.
