Baby Reflux / Sickness

Hi all, my baby is 4 weeks old and has really bad sickness / reflux following every feed.
Tried Mamia Stage 1 - Aptimel Anti-Reflux - Infant Gaviscon and Colief.
None of which appear to be helping and he hasn’t gained any weight in 2-3 weeks.

Can someone recommend anything else I could try feeding him to ease the reflux and hopefully stop the sickness?

Is your baby lactose intolerant? I used to keep my baby upright after every feed for about 20 mins.

I use cow & Gate for my babies, I had reflux on aptamil but I’ve never had any problems on cow & gate but be careful not to be changing milk too often as that can upset baby’s tummy. If you can breast feed or pump & bottle feed that may be better than formula x

Your 4 week old baby hasn't gained any weight in the last 2 to 3 weeks?! That sounds like you need to be seen by paediatrics this weekend.

Hi OP,
I'm sorry to hear this you must be so worried. What has your GP/health visitor said? That amount of weight loss is concerning.
Both my DD's had CMPA (cows milk protein allergy) and some of the symptoms presented very similarly to reflux so were given a prescription formula as well as reflux medication omeprazole and a thickener called carobel as prescription formulas are very thin.
Please speak to your GP urgently and ask them to at least give you some anti reflux medication. Good luck.

Hi all, I have a newborn being breast fed, 8 days olds now. He is a screamer when being put on his back, only comfortable on his side. We have noticed some symptoms that seem like reflux. He is sick when being laid on his back even after waiting a while after his feed. He gets hiccups during feeds and after feeds that sound like they are wet hiccups. He is often really unsettled after feeding and can take ages to get him settled for no apparent reason. Lying him on his back for nappy changes is a nightmare cz he screams so loud and he sounds like he has a sore throat.

is this normal for a newborn or is this something like reflux?

Sounds exactly like my baby and we're pretty confident it's not CMPA because he was born prem so was given my milk in the hospital for a long time before coming home and there were no concerns. Just seems like he has quite painful gas at times - there are some golden hours where he manages to settle straightaway on his back but mostly he'll have some issues. Plenty of tummy time and magic/sloth hold (lying belly down along my forearm) has been helping to shift the gas and make him more comfortable. We're giving gaviscon infant for reflux which can make them more constipated so that's maybe also contributing, though he wasn't liking being on his back before that anyway.

Also spend plenty of time holding upright after feeds to help on the reflux front and make sure he's burping properly

Thanks for the ideas, I have started doing more burping and holding upright after feeds, which we weren’t doing before. Need to do some more tummy time, and he definitely needs burp more. Thanks for your replies :)
