Maternity leave update

Hi, very random post but I posted here last month seeking advice on maternity leave & handing in my notice (linked the thread below)

Maternity leave & handing in notice www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/4501696-maternity-leave-handing-in-notice?msgid=115748542#115748542

I just wanted to make this thread as I got such good advice from many people (especially @faevern & @babyroobs ) and I just wanted to say thank you so much!
By the dates I gave, some suggested that I hadn't been paid the full 39 weeks of SMP. I was advised to use the Gov calculator and/or contact Maternity Action for legal advice.

I have since done that and Maternity Action confirmed that I was only paid 35 weeks and not 39 weeks, this was an unlawful deduction. They told me what to say to my employer and threaten to report them to HMRC. Long story short but HRpayroll have just emailed me back saying I'm owed £607 from my last maternity and based on this new information, I'm now entitled to SMP this time round (I'm pregnant again). I'm owed 8 weeks maternity pay on top of the £607 resulting in the company owing me £1823!!

I would have never thought to call maternity action or look into it as I didn't really understand SMP and how it works myself. Seeing as the company is a global Logistics company, I just assumed they knew what they were doing. Just wanted to post and say thanks so much to all that commented and gave advice when that wasn't even the advice I was after!

Super grateful for the MNetters that helped❤️

That’s fab news as I felt I was becoming quite insistent on the thread 😁🤐 I knew there was something not right, it happens more than you would think with SMP.

@Faevern haha no thank you so much😂 it took me a while to get what you were saying but I finally got it and called Maternity Action straight. I must sound naive but I really had no clue these things happened. It’s so bad but I’m very grateful for your advice! X
