Has anyone ever booked a baby sitter from a website?

I don't have very many childcare options as I'm a lone parent. My child's father isn't in the picture. My usual go to childcare options that I trust are busy. I was wondering whether it would be safe to use a baby sitter from an online website such as sitters.com
I am hesitate and feel like i should reschedule the commitment I have until my trusted childcare option is available
Just wondering if anyone has ever booked online via a baby sitter website?

I am on Care.com and have had regular babysitting jobs and one offs. As in turn up at a strange house, get handed a strange baby and a strange couple go out!!. Very strange!!

Not a website (because I'm not 100), but I've booked loads on the Bubble app. Mostly good experiences and highly recommend!

Yes we have used Bubble, found them great.

I'm on the bubble childcare app but have had no bookings despite full police check, numerous qualifications and lots of experience. Been next to useless for me.

Yes. It was a good experience.

I am looking for a new babysitter. How does Bubble work - it doesn't let me search/browse for sitters. I have to post my job and people apply. Is that right or am I missing something?

We used sitters for years from when the kids were about 4/6 (before that we used their nursery staff). We had some semi-regular ones (as they tend to first allocate ones you've used before or who are most local, unless you feed back that you don't want them). We felt quite comfortable leaving our DC with all of them, though it's fair to say that our opinions ranged from "perfectly ok" to "really lovely", and we didn't need them to do much more than be in the house "just in case" and to check the kids had turned their lights out by the required time. They always managed to get someone to fill our requests, even if relatively short notice. They all have at least two years professional childcare experience so tend to be teachers, TAs, nurses or nursery workers, all just earning a bit of extra money. Our favourite was a teacher who was perfect for our DC (as she spoke to them kindly but didn't try to interact with them more than they were comfortable with), so she used to get paid to sit in our house doing her marking rather than doing it at home.

We’ve used sitters for years too. One issue 10 years ago (woman could not speak English), we sent her away and had a big apology and compensation. No other problems.

I used sitters once, she was fab.

QueefQueen80s · 26/05/2023 18:44

Expensive though!

I used to work for Sitters and they really thoroughly check you out. I was teaching at the time. Later after I left teaching I tried to get back to sitters again but because I wasn't working with children they wouldn't take me on. I think they are really strict. I did it about 20 times and never had any trouble with the children.

I have used Easer app. Its quite simple to use, you post your job with the category babysitter and you get response from the babysitters nearby also, you can chat to them directly.
