Recommendation for website to find a tutor

Hiya

Had anyone got any recommendations for websites to find a tutor specifically for GCSE topics appreciate that the tutors will all be different but looking for a reputable website that doesn't just let anyone sign up as a tutor and are available to help if any issue, DD is apprehensive about online tutoring so any that offer a free trial to see if she gets on with the person would also be good.

Thanks

I would advise going to a good agency and being prepared to pay for it.

Whereabouts are you and what is it that you want?

I have used Tutorful and found a really great tutor. I specifically looked for an ex teacher with experience teaching the relevant A level board/course. I was lucky in that she'd just started out and got a good rate as she didn't have many reviews at the time. She charges much more now! Ex teachers are expensive though but in our case worth it.

Teachers to your home seems good.( I haven’t used it though)

We are in Bristol / Bath area and looking primarily for Chem and Physics- currently doing really well in Bio so would like to bring the other grades up and then maybe some maths, totally happy to pay what's needed as long as they can help

I’ve been a member of a few as a tutor - Tutor Hunt, First Tutors, Tutorful don’t exactly “vet” beyond references and you’ll get approved logos if you’re a qualified teacher etc. There’s a smaller one called Sherpa that I really like and they do interview all tutors and from perusing the listings they are definitely higher quality.

I found a lovely Maths tutor for my son on First Tutor. She’s a teacher and had very goood references which were available to view. It seemed a good easy to use website and you pay a small finders fee - think it was £25 or so.
I’ve also used tutorful which did the job. More choice of tutors but less personal than First

Sorry, clicked too soon. Less personal than First Tutors, that meant to say!

We use Maths Concierge - they've been great for 11+ and covid catch up. But I know they also do GCSE and A Level as I was recommended by a friend who used them for GCSE and is still doing A Level with them. Try and get Will, he is the best rated tutor in our area full stop. I know all their tutors are amazing though as we read all the reviews haha
