Can I shamelessly boast/pat myself on head

Because I can't in real life....
After 4 years of not working because, well usual story abusive ex husband.
I rejoined the workforce Christmas 2016. I took first job I could get on 19k. Before marriage I'd been on 22k but always drifted somewhat.
Anyway, post divorce was determined to sort myself out.
2 jobs and professional qualifications, later, I've just had my pay review and I'm on 37k. So veeeeeeerrrrry nearly double what I was on 5 years ago.
Life isn't about salary and money. And I'm sure people on here still think I'm a pauper. But so bloody proud of myself.
Oh, and I bought my own -smallest in the world- flat too :) all on my little own.

You have done brilliantly and I am very proud of you, you should be proud of yourself and your lovely bijou apartment. Because it's not a tiny flat, it's a Bijou apartment!

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 30/03/2022 18:29

You certainly can! And it's not just "A" city centre Bijou apartment, it's your city centre Bijou apartment.

Because you are awesome and you did the thing!

Gruffalogrinch · 30/03/2022 18:50

Well done OP, I hope you are very happy in your city centre bijou apartment 💐

coldfeetmama · 30/03/2022 18:59

Well done ! You deserve every penny of it ! Celebrate and treat yourself 💐

RedSquirrel111 · 30/03/2022 19:54

I've celebrated by getting a pasta subscription. Not very exciting Grin
Might have to add shoes to it!

I'm just thinking of 5 years ago, renting a flat I couldn't afford trying to scrape it together on 19k. Going into work so poorly because the company didn't have sick pay and I couldn't afford to take even a day off.

Never once regretted leaving though. As they say, the best revenge is a life lived well (with a pasta subscription and new shoes)
