Boring thread alert...

Recent relationship breakup and he will be taking the nice bedding with him, dammit!
Last night I dug an old set out from the back of the airing cupboard bought back in the day before I knew about thread counts and Egyptian cotton and oh dear... not a comfortable night.

So where did you get your last bedding from, if you were after good quality but not eye-wateringly expensive? Is Egyptian cotton the be-all-and-end-all? Any decent alternatives? Would be great to get some recommendations.

I get mine from George at asda! It lasts for ages, washes well and looks nice.
I don’t buy the Egyptian cotton, I find it cold. So just the normal one

2bazookas · 30/03/2022 15:30

IKEA do pure cotton sets at reasonable price .

TheFlis12345 · 30/03/2022 15:30

I second George! I bought some after it was recommended on here and it’s great quality for the price.

I got some lovely sets from Argos.

Can you really tell the difference between regular and fancy high thread count duvet sets?

I mean do they genuinely feel different or more comfortable?

I'm poor so I go to places like Dunelm so prob not fancy enough for you. Selfridges would prob have the sort of thing you're after. Or John Lewis.

TK Maxx It's hit and miss, but they do generally have some Egyptian cotton stuff reasonably cheap. For example (although it doesn't state the thread count)

Or this - normal cotton but 300 thread count:

M&S Bamboo bedding. Absolutely the BEST I've ever had and I've spent a fortune on Supima cotton in the past. My DH takes a pillowcase with him as he travels for work lol

DeckTheHallsWithGin · 30/03/2022 15:58

Wilkos Egyptian cotton ones are good and cheap.

Nannyamc · 30/03/2022 16:00

Yes to the M&S bamboo range. Very reasonable comfy and as good as Egyptian cotton. Purchased for spare bed and ended up on our bed.

Mercedesbenz2022 · 21/08/2022 13:21

Definitely the m and s bamboo
it is a viscose cotton mix and has a slight sheen
it’s really lovely , easy to wash , I ❤️ it

Whycanineverever · 21/08/2022 14:47

I got really nice one from dunelm.

JustJustWhy · 21/08/2022 14:55

I had come here to say George, thinking I would be the only one! I treat myself to a new set every few months. Currently have the George Home Grey Eucalyptus Birds Reversible Duvet Cover Set but just had a look and they don't make it anymore so I'll look after this because I love it! The two sets I have are washing really well and neither cost me more than £12. Both are subtle, lovely prints.

VanillaSpiceCandle · 21/08/2022 16:53

Theres always lots of high thread count Egyptian cotton in Homesense. For duvet covers and pillow cases Bedeck is really good value.

bestbuy · 28/08/2022 11:30

I found baby bedding design I see out of the unique kids bedding sets 100% cotton

passionfruitpariah · 28/08/2022 11:31

M&S also have 20 percent off all bedding at the moment with the sparks card! They do a reasonably priced range and quality guaranteed to last
