Box of goodies for a new mum - what would you want in it?

My friend has just had a baby. I want to make up my own box of goodies to send to her.

But I'm wondering what to put in there. I've never had a baby so not sure what a new mother would appreciate.

I was thinking of a nice body cream, a scented candle, some chocolate, some wild flower seeds, a gift voucher for a baby shop. Is this naff? What else could I put in there? What would you have wanted in a gift box just after you'd had a baby?

By the time I get around to buying the stuff and sending it off, the baby will probably be a week or so old.

I would have wanted stuff for me. I k ow that sounds selfish, but the baby always gets gifted loads so clothes etc were not necessary!

Things I'd have loved: chocolate, cake, biscuits, decaf coffee, books, magazines.
A lovely friend d bought me some bath bombs but I haven't yet had time to use them!

You're stuck on the couch, maybe very sore in those early days. Food and reading materials are perfect in my opinion!

@kitkatsky

Lansinoh if she's breast feeding
For some reason I read this as Lagavulin, bold choice for breastfeeding 😂

My most used baby gift for me was my contigo insulated cup, its still going strong 7 years later!

Lansinoh nipple cream
Medela nipple shields
A nice maternity bra
Cold packs for perineum
Spritz for Bits spray
Ibuprofen and paracetamol
And as much chocolate as you can fit in the box!

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone

I definitely want to get her stuff for her, rather than for the baby (but will get a few baby basics).

I'd love to cook her some meals to freeze but she lives a couple of hours away so giftbox will be through the post

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal

I always give first time mums a thermal mug with a lid. The number of times I got trapped under a sleeping/feeding baby - this meant I could at least keep my much-needed cuppa hot, and drink it without worrying about spilling it on the baby!
This^ I like to give a mug and some nice tea bags. Depending on the tastes of the recipient.

Im a Fan of these lifeventure ones they last for donkeys years (said baby has started secondary school and mug is going strong) www.lifeventure.com/products/cookware/travel-mugs?gclid=Cj0KCQjw3IqSBhCoARIsAMBkTb2edPv3zorMXYfC6IsZdeLfW_3RyjgfhBaUlcGqdcQ4bSAYtmIh1lYaAoe4EALw_wcB
