Warning TMI - brown clot 4.5 weeks

At 4 weeks pregnant, mild brown discharge for 1 day with mild crams.
Then nothing. Roll on 4 days and string discharge followed by brown spotting when wipe. Nothing much tho. Mild Cramps abdo and back come and go.
Today wiped and this....

I had a miscarriage last year at 6 weeks and started similar but bled a day later.

Any thoughts? Iv been badly constipated too I don't know whether irritated cervix, or clutching at straws ???
Any thoughts? Anyone had similar?

I wouldn't really describe that as a clot. Many many women have some degree of bleeding in pregnancy and often it turns out to be nothing worrying. It looks like old blood which has just found its way out. Even if you go to EPU they won't scan you so early as nothing would show up yet anyway. I'm sorry to say you'll have to wait this one out for a while and just see what happens.

Thank you Squiff :) I think the prev experience has left me super anxious... it hasn't got heavy or stronger. But it's the uncertainty

I believe I read its old blood if brown, would really only worry if its fresh and red, congratulations OP

I had this and dashed to hospital- turns out brown blood is fine and just old blood, if you’re worried get it checked out tho. My baby was fine x

They scanned me for reassurance and could hear heart beat x

That's positive blueplantpop ! I'm only 4.5 weeks so cant get a scan yet ! Getting hcg tests xxx

I had things like this with both dc and it was fine. Hoping it is for you too.

Thank you. No real cramping but still vv light when I wipe brown spotting just wish it would disappear ! Did a clear blue and said 2-3 which is about right. Surely at 4.5 weeks if something was to happen it would just happen by now ?!

That's old blood, lovely. Obviously I can't promise it is all fine but it's fresh red blood that you need to worry about x

It's still there but not even when I wipe but (this sounds so wrong ) if I stick a finger a little bit up its got light brown on it now. Wonder why it's hanging up there and doesn't flow out ? It's not thick..

I had this too with my now 15 year old and it was old blood. I had lost a baby previously through ectopic pregnancy so was on high alert. For comparison with my first dd (now 27!) I had alot of bright red bleeding with her at 9 weeks. Was taken in and scanned and the placenta was coming away and they thought I would miscarry but after 2 weeks it settled down and carried on with a normal pregnancy. So as yours is dark brown I'm thinking more along the lines of old blood. I think I also had slight cramps too like when you're expecting a period to start. I hope you get some reassurance soon xxx

I had bloods done yesterday and they said need to be redone as not labelled . Ffs !

Hi, yes all OK here at 39 weeks preggers with my baby boy ! Brown discharge is very common. I had it throughout first and second trimester. Call your gp get some hcg bloods done that will give you some peace of mind and reassurance. I know first hand the worry and anxiety that it causes but it's so common. Worth mentioning tho and if it turns red then that's not a good sign.
