Sofa and rug cleaning machine

I had my sofas cleaned today. It cost me quite a bit but they were rank. Even the cleaning man said so. Blush

Does anyone own a machine themselves to do this? I want to do it more often but I can't afford to get a professional in every time.

I'd love recommendations please.

I hire one from Morrisons from time to time. Costs about £40 for 24 hours I think?

I got a Vax off Amazon. £120. It’s fab but it is a Hoover type thing so I don’t know if you could use it on a sofa .

Bissell SpotClean Pro. We got one shortly after we got a kitten and cat (no coincidence about the timing).

It's great for cleaning up after random spillages and animal related incidents, but we've also used it to clean the sofa arms as the fabric covering those can't go in the washing machine.

It sucks up a lot of the water it uses so although the surfaces are damp afterwards, they aren't saturated and dry out soon enough.

It's been well worth the money imo.

Second this recommendation OP - I have a toddler and a cat, and a slightly clumsy-with-a-cup-of-tea dad who visits regularly, and this little machine has saved my lovely sofa and rug many times.

Both sofa and rug are brightly coloured, sofa is natural fibres and rug is man-made fibres; and although a small amount of the sofa dye does colour the water after a thorough going-over, the sofa is just as bright as ever. Rug fluffs up nicely afterwards too, so the Bissell shampoo doesn’t seem to leave residue. And everything @TheNoodlesIncident says is true! Plus the machine is small and can be easily stored in a cupboard.

I did initially balk at the price as it’s quite toppy for such a small bit of kit, but agree it’s been totally worth it (and actually that’s partly been because it’s so small - yet still so good!)
