Energy Tariff Question

LuluBlakey1 · 28/03/2022 15:44

We are on a set tariff for electricity until 2023 but our gas is on standard variable with British Gas at 7.2p p KWH. and 27.2 p standing charge per day . This will increase on 1st April but I don't know what to.
Is it worth changing to their 9.9p pKWH and 37.6 standing charge per day?

I am so confused by all of this. Any expert help gratefully received.

Anyone? I am just baffled by it. Martin Lewis says stay on the price cap one we are on probably- but that was before Ukraine.

That's what Martin Lewis says too. Thanks. I find it all very confusing.

As usual, it is left to me. DH says he understands less than I do. PIL say 'fix the tariff' because you know where you are.

We are having a woodburner fitted to the other reception room so we use less gas next Winter.

British gas should tell you their standard variable rate and should have already told you what it will rise to in April

dementedpixie · 28/03/2022 16:17

Although the rates you've quoted for BG already sound like the price capped rates

No, I mean they sound like the April SVR rates
I'm with Octopus on the SVR and it's going from:

3.9585p kWh and 26.1135 s/c to
7.329p kWh and 27.2160 s/c

That's what they are today

They have either started charging you early or are showing you April prices because according to their website the current SVR is on this screenshot

And these are the April prices

I just don't understand - these bear no relation to the KWH prices of 7.2 currently and 9.9 fixed we are currently on and the possible fixed price tariff shows on our BG offer. These tables are way more than that
