Bingo Coup

PTA are hosting first bingo event in ages. One of the parents has offered to do the bingo calling and provide the old school balls rather than use a screen. He's clearly looking forward to it, and volunteered first but some are concerned because he's a quiet sort of person, and they seem to think he will be a boring. I have just heard that one woman who is involved has already decided that she will step in if he is too dull.

Am I in the minority/over reacting for being appalled? It feels so cruel, unkind, immature and unappreciative, nonetheless a terrible example to the parents and children present, if someone is just going to suddenly swoop in and wrangle the mic off him or talk over them. I won't be present at the event so won't be able to try and help in anyway.

Quiet and unassuming doesn’t necessarily mean he can’t assert himself.

Maybe he’ll tell her to shove the balls where the sun don’t shine.

If you’re not going, keep out of it.

Yes, I think he has a job where he has to assert himself, publicly and amongst strangers too, so I gave him the benefit of the doubt.

Would love him to tell her something along those lines...

I am not going, but am a committee member and find even things I'm not involved in I am asked about/held responsible for...and frankly, if that's how they are going to behave I think I will be stepping down.

He may seem.a quiet type but he might be an absolute wizz with a microphone. He must be confident enough otherwise he wowouldn'have volunteered!!

I think it's really terrible that someone would swoop in and take the mic away from the parent who volunteered first. It's so important to show appreciation and kindness to those who step up, and it's a terrible example to set for the kids.
I think it's really important that we all take a stand against this kind of behavior - even if we're not present at the event, we can still make our voices heard. And, if you like to play Bingo as I do, I recommend checking out joywallet.com. You'll be able to enjoy your favorite game and also earn real money.
