Chest pain

I had some pains in my chest. Right in the centre and a bit in my back. They came and went.

They've gone now. I was just about to call 111, as they were coming and going for about 10 minutes.

They've gone now and I feel fine.

I had a chest Xray last week as I have a persistent cough and it's not the first time I've had these pains, only they're usually milder and don't last for long.

I spoke to the Dr on the phone 2 weeks ago and they've sent me for an ECG, only it keeps getting postponed (by them) so I've not had it yet. It'll hopefully be this Tuesday. I've got to call for my X-ray results later this week.

Can I just go to sleep and wait till I get my results back? Or do I need to speak to someone more urgently? (Now? Or in the morning?)

To be honest, I think your pain will dictate what you need to do in the next few hours.

I had chest pains, turns out I had gallbladder issues. I did not ring for an ambulance because I could cope with the pain. Unfortunately/fortunately for me I have an incredible high pain tolerance.

I did however Google the symptoms of a heart attack...

Do what YOU feel is right. No one is going to judge you.

Call 111. It might be nothing but could be something. You might not have to wait long at A&E at this time 🤞🤞

Thanks :)

I don't think it's a heart attack. Apart from the chest pain. I don't have any of the other symptoms.

That's really interesting about your gallbladder, thanks for sharing that. (Although I'm guessing "interesting" probably isn't the first word you would use to describe it while experiencing it).

I'm already in the system, being investigated so hopefully they'll get to the bottom of it soon.

@notwhatineednow Grin Grin I do have to admit that the "positions" I put myself in to elevate the pain were really comical.

But, as I am stupid, I Googled "heart attack" whilst drinking a cup of coffee and smoking a cigarette....

I had my Gallbladder removed about 3 months later. I honestly cannot not remember such pain, labour was bliss..

I've had pain in my chest a few times over the years, varying in intensity, sometimes really very strong, usually with a pulsing element. The first time, I did eventually call 111 and predictably was told to go straight to A&E, where I was seen immediately and given an ECG. No sign of heart problems and it was diagnosed as reflux. It's been happening quite a bit recently but I don't worry about it now and just take otc meds if it's persistent.
I'd advise you to call 111 or even just go A&E, you should be seen very quickly and hopefully heart issues can be ruled out.

Thank you everyone for your informative posts.

I've had the result and my lungs are fine, phew! Waiting for the results of the ECG now.

Very interesting to hear about people's chest pains being to do with digestive stuff. I had a stomach ulcer in my 20s. And the pain in my chest runs down the middle, although it feels like it's in my lungs I guess it could be related to my digestive system. It doesn't feel at all "stomachy" so I'd not considered that.

Will chat with the doctor when my ECG results come back.
