How long between covid doses?

CovidQuestion1 · 27/03/2022 20:37

Me and DP are having a debait between timings for covid vaccines, he has had some health issues which has ment delaying his vaccine but now he's been given the green light to go ahead.

The advice only differs, it says 4 weeks after first dose on some sites and 8 weeks on others.

We were hoping to book a last minute break away but he would need to have had both doses and then 14 days clear of his second to go where as I'm fully jabbed.

Has anyone had theirs 4 weeks after their first?

Thanks

The JCVI recommended an 8 week gap.

Where does it say 4 weeks? I've not heard that one. Ring 119 and see what they say?

You cant rely on just bookinh it - I saw people turned away when it was 12 qeeks or didnt have full 12 weeks.

Why doesn’t he just book it and see what appointments he’s offered?

Ignore my previous post unless your dh is under 18. 8 weeks is when he’ll be offered a second dose.

Here you go.

If he had unusual medical circumstances, he needs to discuss that when booking the jabs.

Here you are.

What makes you think 4 weeks is the dose interval for him?

If he has a specific medical condition that he thinks might reduce the gap, he should discuss that when booking.

Has anyone had theirs 4 weeks after their first?

There are entire countries who had their second dose four weeks after the first. It was standard practice. I thought the UK lengthened the recommended dosage times to get as many people vaccinated with the first vaccine rather than following the recommended protocol.

There’s now a lot of evidence that a longer gap between doses gives you better immunity.
