Farnborough V Farnham

Salam Alikoum sisters

My daughter is currently looking at houses in Farnborough, Guildford, Farnham, Aldershot etc, the best value for Money seem to be in Farnborough and Aldershot, the cost of a 3 bed their is similar to a 2 bed in the other areas

She has since found a 3 bedroom house in Farnborough (Bartons way) but the town doesn't seem to have a great reputation

She's also seen one in Farnham (Tongham) which was a 2 bedroom but seems a bit nicer, but costs the same hence really torn

Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks

Tongham definitely deemed more salubrious than Farnborough despite its closeness to Aldershot (garrison town although the army aren't there any more).

Farnborough is like any other large town, nice parts and shitty run down parts!

Tongham is quite a way from Farnham. There has been quite a lot of new build there so it’s probably ideal for a young family. My friends children went to primary school there and she liked it.

I’m from farnham and my parents still live there. Their next door neighbours have just sold their house and moved to a new build in Tongham, and have got a five bedroom detached for the price of their 3 bed in Farnham and apparently they’re thrilled with it.

Has your daughter considered Fleet? Same area, excellent schools etc. Nicer than Farnborough and Aldershot but not as expensive as Farnham.

I live very close to farnborough and it's no different to any other town, a few shops (lots more a short drive away), choice of supermarkets (plus a Tesco , Aldi, Lidl, m&s and Morrisons a short drive away) choice of schools (and an SEN if that's relevant), colleges/sixth form and I believe the tech college has a uni attached now. And farnborough has great train connections (especially to London). I wouldn't consider Aldershot, very run down. This does make it a bit overpriced in my opinion especially if buying close to the town centre. But I agree with previous pp, fleet is nice.

Tongham is nothing like Farnham but it’s an ok place to live if not that special.
Agree with Fleet.
Does she need a good London connection?

Tongham is nice and was on our list too! 3 bed vs 2 bed for me would have to be swayed by other factors like parking, noise, proximity to amenities etc.
Tongham really isn’t Farnham though, I’d say it’s closer to Aldershot but I have heard good things about the schools there.
