I think I may have taken myself up a blind alley. The words I have are different to the ones being mentioned here. Can anyone give a hint?

Maybe if you 882'd someone this is what they would do in gratitude? But not the obvious one.

Got it! I read back through the hints on here and then one of them got me to 922. From their I found 977 and then got it as a partner word to that. Was not expecting it to be the target when I typed it though.

A little thought as to how random this can be (or maybe it's a reflection on me!):

I'm currently on holiday outside the UK. I did yesterday's in the morning and eventually found cooperate. I got the people I'm with involved too although they were just thinking of words based on my top 3 greens. In the evening we started the new word. It took over 100 guesses and getting up to the high 900s before I realised that..... I had got the time difference wrong and we were doing cooperate again!

I cant believe it.

I solved Semantle #56 in 688 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 7.52. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #32. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 25.67 (540/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

We were on a totally different path to cooperate the second time and it just didn't click for ages that 'yesterday's' word fitted with all the new greens we had!

I looked on here for clues when I was about 180 words in, and followed some clues and got to cooperate again… before I realised the clue was from late yesterday evening

It changes at midnight whatever time zone you are in.

As in midnight locally, not UK time.

Okay I’ve got to 958!

958 is a pig (not a clue). I was closing in on a theme when I should've been more general. Urgh, I really do hate this game, why do I keep playing it?

The release of the new word is actually based on UTC (which is GMT)

'There's a new word every day, where a day starts at midnight UTC or 20:00 your time.'

The east coast US has already changed their clocks so till tonight they are only 4 hours behind UK. Hence we (I!) started at 7pm thinking it was midnight UK but it was only 11pm UK.

So to all midnight players of which I am one, when the clocks change I think the new word won't be out till 1am?

and in fact looking at the closest words was bewildering!

The thing you do the answer with is a cold answer.... as is a something similar that you do with the same thing.

The "off" meaning is cold too, today's word is strange.

I'm so close to pressing the give up button, I just am not getting anywhere today, despite the clued on here
