Just curious how many people have now signed up to host & has anyone got visas sorted yet? We’ve heard nothing yet (applied on Saturday) and just trying to get an idea of timescales other people are seeing.

We've signed up, but I'm not sure how we get assigned some refugees. Do we have to find them ourselves - it seems weird to have to pick someone off Facebook, like some kind of OLD site.

No one seems interested in our offer. I refuse to chase the people needing shelter. I am a member of several groups, it’s astonishing how ‘pick me’ people are.
If someone wants our room they do, if not…

We signed up to one of the sites on Facebook and were put in touch with someone almost immediately by the admins. No idea how they went about doing the matching though. A lot of people on the street are partnering via a friend of one of the neighbours who is doing voluntary work at the border in Poland. Another local is helping families of junior ice hockey teams find homes and he has got in touch via someone he knows in Ukraine from playing in the past. The whole process is rather chaotic but the two women we have filled in visas with seem very pleasant. I’m just trying to get some feel of how long the process takes as there is so little information available and they are obviously very keen to get here as soon as possible

We have applied to host 2 Ukrainian guests (mum & 2 year old DS). We have filled out the visa application forms & are waiting to hear back. They were matched with us by a local chap who is married to a Ukrainian. I hope it works out & am sure that we will all benefit from the experience, such a terrible situation out there
