Query about sponsors pages

Before I start, I know MN isn’t overly keen on sponsorship pages but this is a genuine query and I wondered what people think.

So, I’ve got one going at the moment and want to raise a really modest amount. However, whenever I put it on my FB page, (3 times in 3 months) it gets no engagement whatsoever. Not a single like, not a single comment. Nothing.

My question is, do people feel that if they comment they’re somehow obliged so sponsor? I wouldn’t care either way, it would be nice if they did but with the cost of living at the moment I can totally understand why they wouldn’t. It’s just so incredibly hurtful to be point blank ignored. Or, is it that people loathe these pages so much that they just ignore all of them.

Don’t be mean, just asking as I genuinely don’t know. Thanks.

I think most of us are bombarded with sponsorship requests.

Often it’s pretty privileged people indulging in their hobbies or passions and expecting friends and relatives to foot the bill. Not always, of course, if it were to benefit someone or something I was directly involved with I’d be more inclined to engage

Jan from no 15 who has never walked further than the end of the road taking it upon herself to run a marathon to benefit the local children's ward that saved her son’s life I’d probably sponsor.

Sponsoring Paul to ride his bike somewhere scenic for an ephemeral white savior project less so.

Fair enough. For me, it’s walking a long distance for a charity that funds research into a condition I have. I’ve raised money for them before with varying success. Like I say, I wouldn’t mind if all I got was a ‘whoop’ but then I guess people feel they have to sponsor you then. Totally not true.

Are people seeing it? I find if I don't add a picture no one seems to see my posts. Not sure if it's algorithms or people are scanning through and the text only ones don't catch their attention.

Maybe, my DH wondered whether it wasn’t being seen. I’ll have to get him to look at it for me when he gets home.
