Just as the title says what are your personal favourite sounds to hear. Mine are:

Car tyres on gravel.
Horses hooves on pretty much any surface.
Dawn/dusk chorus.
Tinkly bells.
Rustling paper bags.
Cats purring/trilling.
The beep at the supermarket.
Creaking tree limbs.
Logs cracking.
Crunchy leaves.
Crickets and grasshoppers.

OK. Please share.

A blackbird singing on a summer's evening.
Waves rippling up a beach.
The creak of snow when you tread on it.
Mum sounding cheerful when she answers the 'phone.

Oh, and the sound of a pint of real ale being pulled.

DubiousGoals · 24/03/2022 19:40

Rain
Thunder
Cats purring
Typewriter keys

Rain on the campervan roof when we're snuggled up in bed.
A children's choir.

Nice thread OP.
Waves crashing onto the shore
Dawn chorus
My daughter’s wicked infectious giggle
My bunnies munching their cabbage leaves etc
Bubbles fizzing as you pour a glass of champagne
Whistling kettles
Early morning noises outside your tent when you’re camping
Bacon sizzling in a pan
Running water - on a walk I used to always go on at my Grandparents, there was a horse trough with water running into it & I found it so soothing.
Light rain on the window
Old fashioned clocks chiming

AchillesLastStand · 24/03/2022 19:57

The crunch of walking through snow that has just settled.

derxa · 24/03/2022 20:15

The motherly grunts my ewes make when they bond with their lambs. And when they lick their newborns. Love them

FartNRoses · 24/03/2022 20:42

The sound of church bells ringing in the distance on a very warm Sunday afternoon.
I remember being a teenager in my room listening to those bells. They always made me so happy. Now if I hear them I burst into tears because they remind me of a time when I lived with my mum. (She’s no longer here)

The silence that you get when snow is falling

Notdoingthis · 24/03/2022 21:45

Trains

MonkeyPuddle · 24/03/2022 21:52

Wood pigeons cooing
Walking on snow
My kids barrelling up the stairs like a herd of elephants
Church bells
Gentle breathing, specifically that of my patients. I do a lot of end of life care, when people are comfortable and sink into their beds and blankets and just breathe, relaxed and at peace. There’s a lightness to it. It’s tangible.

The sound of the hosepipe starting up

PollyPutTheKettleOnKettleOn · 24/03/2022 22:24

My cat's snores

schroeder · 24/03/2022 22:28

Oh yeah guinea pigs are the best.Smile

Giggorata · 25/03/2022 10:08

The soft little noise made by a contented hen.

The wind blowing through the trees in a wood

Ferrets dookering

Not often heard now, the whirr of the electric milk float just before dawn, sometimes followed by the muffled clink of bottles.

The mention of distant lawnmowers on a sunny day made me remember the strange whirr made by those old cast iron push lawnmowers. Another one that isn’t often heard now.

Loads that has already been said. I really enjoyed reading them.

PollyPutTheKettleOnKettleOn · 25/03/2022 10:25

My milkman definitely does not deliver milk with "a muffled clink" of bottles! 😆

Bashing and lights to wake the dead more like!

CounsellorTroi · 25/03/2022 10:37

Wood pigeons especially when they are sitting in my chimney
Cork coming out of a wine bottle and the glugging of it pouring
Dogs snoring/cats purring
Principality Stadium crowd singing Mae Hen Wlad fy Nhadau
Children playing (within reason!)
Waves
