School Uniform Question

Hi everyone, just wondering what people's experiences are regarding summer dresses for school uniform and when a girl is too old for them? My daughter is p3 and until now we have always worn summer dresses summer>Oct break, pinafores Oct>Easter then summer dress again Easter>Summer break but I was just wondering when do girls usually move on from these? I love them as they dry like a dream and minmise my ironing pile massively but I am mindful I don't want to keep putting wee one in them and her start to get picked on for it. She is unlikely to tell me herself as she is not the least bit appearance conscious and with older kids coming out at separate times I can't do a wee scan at home time of what the p4's up are wearing.

We are definitely going to go for skirts rather than pinafores this year for heading into p4 but should I get a few summer dresses or is it time to move on?

Yr6s (10-11yos) wear them at DDs school (the alternative is a blouse and tie though!)

My dd is 11, last year of primary school. Last year she didn't want to wear the summer dresses anymore so I bought her the playsuits instead...virtually the same but the bottom part is shorts rather than a skirt. Sometimes she wears just her normal school skirt with her polo shirt in the summer term.

DD’s stopped wearing them in year 4. I haven’t personally seen any year 5 or 6 girls wearing them.

Year 6 all wear them in our school.

My eldest stopped wearing them in year 4 when she decided she no longer likes wearing skirts or dresses. I got her some shorts to wear with her polo shorts instead.

At dd' school they were compulsory right up until Year 6. Several of the more developed girls looked uncomfortable in them.

They're definitely the less popular choice amongst our Y4s and above, but there's small group of girls who still wear them.

Seem to wear them up the end of p4 here, my daughter is in P4 and we've discovered the Asda skirt/polo dress which is a hit for summer with socks and winter with tights!

This is what mine wears, it's super soft and dries indoors in a few hours.

DD stopped wearing them in year 2. In her defence, they're yellow......

About to go into summer of yr 5 and planning to wear them. I think in the past they've been popular upto end of primary. Some wear shorts and polo or skirt and polo instead.

Similarly they don't really ditch the pinafore either. Lots still wear them in year 5 and 6 and others prefer shirt/skirt. Isn't seen as an age thing but a preference!
