I'm really after some advice although i understand this is a tricky one but basically my son is 7 he suffers sadly with duchenne muscular dystrophy a muscle wasting progressive illness.
In November he had covid thankfully it was mild and seemed to get over it pretty well but ever since then he had back to back coughs and cold. Sorry for the TMI but very thick greeny/yellow snot he seems tired but then again I can't honestly say whether that's from the cold or because he's tired from school (obviously his condition) he is on daily steriods at a high dose which obviously makes his immune system low. I've spoke to the doctors and they basically said give him vitamins and maybe lower his steriods (steriods help him to stay on his legs) I started the vitamins but can't lower his steriods.he has a cold again worse than the last time for the last 2 weeks. I went into the pharmacy to see what else I can give him as he can't have ibuprofen or decongestants due to steriods they told me that cant recommended anything due to his medication and go to the GP but i know they cant help me as ive already tried.im ever so grateful for the NHS but no one can seem to help me due to his condition and I feel like he is being fobbed off due to his condition being rare. I've left a message with his consultant but she's takes forever to get back to me! I'm getting worried that he has long covid or something?! I just want some advice on what medication I can give him to help. This seems nearly impossible!
I'm ranting but I feel like im failing him 😔 if you've gotten this far thank you very much.
