Spotting and post partum periods

Hello, looking for some reassurance and experiences. So I’m 8 months post partum and my periods have been pretty irregular. I’ve only had a couple but they’ve been normal flow etc. Two weeks ago I started spotting and I just thought it was the first few days of my period. Anyway it lasted a whole week. It was more than just a little and was more like a super light period but was all dark brown almost black blood. I’ve never had this before. It then stopped and I had a full week of nothing, until today where it looks as if I’m now starting a period again. Red and mucousy and heavier. Arghhh feeling stressed! I did take the EllaOne pill at the start of December after an accident with OH but I’ve had a period since then and it was normal. Could my hormones be all over the place because of the EllaOne still? Or just post partum related? Or something more serious? I had a smear in November and it was normal but starting to worry. I’ve taken a pregnancy test to check and it’s negative. I cannot get a doctors appointment until April as they say this isn’t an emergency. Anybody gone through anything similar?

Hello

Oh goodness. Feels like so long since I wrote this post. So I ended up bleeding constantly for months. Had a scan and they thought it might have been something to do with my C-section internal scar. They then sent me for an mri and they’ve now decided it’s adenomyosis. This was at the end of 2022/23. I then started taking agnus castus and it’s really helped to regulate my cycles and the random blended has stopped. Hoping it stays settled now. Hope this helps. X
