Swollen uvula :(

Iv had a really sore throat/blocked nose for the last 3 days, when I woke up this morning it felt like my throat was closing up/had something stuck at the back of the throat. I tried coughing it up but nothing, looked in the mirror and the uvula is swollen and touching my tongue. It’s so painful and a strange sensation! I feel like I’m choking.

I don’t have any toncils.

Ahh I’m worried :(

I've had this as part of my worse round of tonsillitis and yes the feeling of not being able to swallow or breathe through my mouth was awful

Have you tried gargling ? Salt water or paracetamol

It hurts so much, it’s really red and the soft bit around it is too. It constantly feels like I need to cough something up :( apparently I was snoring loads last night

I've had this, it's horrible. Piriton as well as ibuprofen and salt water gargling. I think I took the liquid ibuprofen because I couldn't face trying to swallow tablets.
Hope it goes down soon.

GP once told me that just because I didn’t have tonsils didn’t mean I couldn’t get tonsillitis. You get hit by the bug but there are no tonsils for it to annoy so it inflames the nearest bit it can. Gargle with salt water. GP also advised gargling with soluble aspirin if you can take that. Drink loads. When you think you’ve drunk enough, drink more. Hope you feel better soon.

This could be a quinsy, and they can get very nasty. Keep an eye out for signs of infection. Mine lead to sepsis but luckily I was already in the hospital waiting room when it did.
